ABOUT CONTINENTAL COMPOUNDERS

The Continental Compounders head office and factory is based in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal. We have been working in the compound manufacturing industry for over 40 years and have acquired a wealth of knowledge surrounding PVC and thermoplastic compounds.

Over the years, we’ve gradually increased our distribution footprint, starting with South Africa, expanding into Sub Saharan Africa, and lasty across the continent.

engineering compounds

Our Engineering Compounders division works with thermoplastic elastomer compounds. These are robust plastics which can be melted and repurposed.

pvc compounds

Our Continental Compounders department deals with PVC Compounds. PVC is a synthetic plastic polymer, which can be made into rigid or flexible form.

ENGINEERING COMPOUNDS

Continental Compounders owes much of its success to its founding members George Dimond and Rodger Petre. Their vision has always been to supply superior quality products, driven by research and development, along with diversity in product range, to meet the needs and demands of the market. Partnering with local and international suppliers has been one of the key differentiators and corner stones of our success. It is for this reason Continental is the preferred supplier of PVC compound to key local and major international players.

Specialised Departments Bringing You the Best Plastic Compounds the Market Has to Offer

In order to make our compound production as streamlined and efficient as possible, we have divided our company into two specialist areas. That being: Continental Compounders (which deals with PVC compounds), and Engineering Compounds (which works to deliver thermoplastic compounds, made to suit the robust standards of the Engineering Industry). While we have these divisions, we believe that great things are achieved through our specialist departments working together effectively and communicating to each other clearly and with care. We aim to break corporate silos and build unity in our team in order to ‘break the mould’ and develop innovative plastic compounds.

A Continental Capacity

We currently have 10 compound lines dedicated to the manufacture of industry-specific plastics and hire over 130 employees who work with us to achieve our goal of making compounds of impeccable and incomparable quality. We produce around 60 000 tons of plastic per annum and are rapidly growing with increased capacity.

Continental Compounders have been involved in the South African Vinyl Association (SAVA) since its inception, as founding members. And we are proud to say that we have achieved our Vinyl Dot year on year, reflecting our material compliance stewardship certification. Our products are also REACH and ROHS compliant. 

We are passionate about SAVA and the difference that it can make in the plastic industry, which we believe needs to become more aggressive in the pursuit of cleaner, eco-friendlier practices and production. SAVA holds us accountable in ensuring our engagement with plastic production is always safe, responsible, and sustainable (according to local and international standards).
